About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Country Controller to lead financial reporting and control activities for our UK operations. While mastering US GAAP financial reporting, statutory accounts, internal controls, and industrial finance processes, you will be acting as a trusted finance lead to the business. This role will ensure accurate, compliant, and timely financial statements, drive strong governance and SOX compliance, and continuously improve finance processes in close collaboration with shared services and regional teams. The role combines technical accounting excellence, leadership, and business partnering in a complex, international environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead monthly, quarterly, and year‑end close for the UK, including subsidiaries and joint ventures;
- Own full US GAAP financial statements;
- Ensure compliance with US GAAP, SEC, and internal reporting requirements;
- Manage complex accounting topics (e.g. revenue recognition, leases, tolling arrangements, key balance sheet areas);
- Own Mark‑to‑Market (MTM) accounting from a controlling perspective;
- Deliver accurate and timely reporting packages to regional and corporate stakeholders.
Process Excellence
- Drive automation, simplification, and continuous improvement initiatives across accounting and reporting;
- Perform and oversee controls in line with the Key Control Matrix;
- Lead external audits and SOX management testing in collaboration with internal teams;
- Monitor and remediate audit findings, deficiencies, and action plans.
Industrial Finance
- Manage fixed asset accounting, including capitalization, disposals, and spare parts;
- Track performance and compliance KPIs related to operational finance and controls.
Business Partnering
- Act as finance contact for local authorities, auditors, and third‑party providers;
- Support Tax, Treasury, and other functions with country‑specific finance topics;
- Lead and develop controlling team (of 8 direct reports);
- Build strong cross‑functional relationships across Finance and wider business.
What We’re Looking For
Are you a confident leader with strong management skills who has a proactive, solutions‑oriented mindset?
Experience
- 2+ years in progressive leadership roles across controlling/finance with agricultural commodity experience preferred;
- Professional qualification (ACCA, CPA, or equivalent) is a strong plus;
- Experience in US GAAP financial reporting and controlling within an international environment, strong knowledge of US GAAP, SOX, and SEC requirements;
- Excellent SAP skills and solid OneStream experience;
- Leadership experience in finance or controlling roles.
