Bumi Armada UK Limited (BAUK) currently have a permanent staff opportunity for a

Shift Team Leader to join the Armada Kraken FPSO on a 3:4:3:5 rotational pattern.

Responsible for the safe and cost-effective operation and maintenance of the production process and utilities with minimal environmental impact.

The successful candidate will have relevant offshore experience and will have the following key responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the safe and cost-effective operation and maintenance of the production process and utilities with minimal environmental impact.
  • Act as the Responsible Person/Area Authority for all operations in the Production Department requiring a work permit and ensure that all safety precautions are taken and the work is carried out safely.
  • Ensure all risks in the production system, utilities operation and maintenance are identified, and comply with procedures.
  • Ensure knowledge of safety requirements, including work permit systems, operational and emergency procedures, Company policies and instructions; and ensure that they are understood by all personnel.
  • Communicate closely with the HSE Advisor on HSEQ matters.
  • Provide guidance to all crew members in matters pertaining to safe working practices in compliance with the installation’s Safety Management Systems (SMS).
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure that all manuals and drawings are kept current, ensuring that any updates are highlighted and sent to Document Control for processing.
  • Support compliance with Independent Competent Person (ICP) requirements.
  • Agree daily priorities with the Production Supervisor, Control Room Operations (CROs) and Production Technicians and ensure these are performed in a safe and cost-efficient manner, with minimal environmental impact and in accordance with the installation’s SMS.
  • Provide guidance on safe operations to the Production Team.
  • Attend daily meeting with Maintenance Supervisor, CMMS Planner and other team leaders to discuss activities at the yesterday, today and tomorrow (YTT) morning meeting.
  • Liaise with Marine Department regarding offtake operations, cargo oil and water reprocessing through the production plant.
  • Liaise with the Maintenance Department regarding power generation, steam plant and utilities plant operations.
  • Maintain and control the Override and Inhibits Register throughout the installation.
  • Ensure Locked Open / Locked Closed (LO/LC) register for the installation is actively managed by the Production Department.
  • Liaise with Lead Mechanical Technician to ensure the Flange Management Register and Small Bore Tubing Register is updated, coordinating all reinstatement testing and sign-off as per procedure.
  • Ensure the safe and efficient isolation, de-isolation of all process plant returning process equipment to service following maintenance in strict compliance with the company’s safe isolation and reinstatement of the plant (SIRP) manual.
  • Verify/ check pressure testing/ leak testing/ service testing packs for returning process equipment to service following maintenance are in strict compliance with the company’s safe isolation and reinstatement of the plant (SIRP) manual.
  • Ensure appropriate data is collected, collated, and reported in a timely manner and with a high degree of accuracy in support of production optimisation and client quality expectations.
  • Complete production loss reporting for any unplanned shutdowns, ensuring the root cause is identified and preventative measures are implemented.
  • Optimise chemical usage and liaise with onshore to ensure chemical stocks are maintained offshore.
  • Create detailed corrective maintenance work orders for any defects on Production Systems for discussion at the daily maintenance meeting, to enable planning with the relevant Departments.
  • Assist with the planning, preparation and coordination of all shutdowns and the implementation of safety procedures and practices.
  • Perform ad-hoc Control Room Operator duties when required.
  • Ensure all work, including that of third parties, is carried out in accordance with the Company’s procedures and standards.
  • Ensure production plant deficiencies are identified, highlighted and resolutions are sought by liaising with the relevant Department.
  • When on nightshift ensure daily morning report is complete and accurate and ready for review by the Production Supervisor and OIM.
  • Perform any other tasks as reasonably required.

Skills and Experience

  • Experience in a Shift Team Leader role would be advantageous, Production Technician / CRO experience is essential
  • Experience in: work permit systems, operational and emergency procedures, isolation, de-isolation of all process plant returning process equipment to service
  • Acting as Responsible Person/Area Authority
  • Ability to manage direct reports
  • Ability to carry out Emergency Response duties
  • Ability to work well as part of a team
  • Ability to communicate at all levels

Qualifications / Certification

Candidates for this role are likely to be qualified by demonstrating the experience detailed above. In addition, the following qualifications will be beneficial:

  • HNC/HND In Process Engineering
  • NVQ/SVQ level 3 in Process Operations or Process Engineering.
  • Full Apprenticeship in a relevant engineering discipline
  • Offshore Control room operator Emergency Response OPITO Approved Training
  • Safe Isolation and Re-instatement of Plant (SIRPs) OPITO approved training
