Bumi Armada UK Limited (BAUK) currently have a permanent staff opportunity for a Lead Instrument Technician / Instrument Technician to join the Armada Kraken FPSO on a 3:4:3:5 rotational pattern (50/50 split time between Lead and Technician). Responsible for directing and coordinating activities on the installation’s systems to provide daily leadership for the instrument team members ensuring that the production/utility systems are maintained to ensure stable operations.

The successful candidate will have relevant offshore experience and will have the following key responsibilities:

  • Responsible for coordinating all task schedules and provide first-hand technical guidance on instrumentation-related equipment, including repair procedures and strategies.
  • Fulfil the risk management requirements by ensuring all instrument-related risks in the production systems and associated utilities are identified, and ensure compliance with procedures.
  • Ensure knowledge of safety requirements, including work permit systems, operational and emergency procedures and Company policies and instructions; and ensure that they are understood by all Instrument Technicians.
  • Communicate closely with the HSE Advisor on HSEQ matters.
  • Provide guidance to all crew members in matters pertaining to safe working practices in compliance with the installation’s Safety Management Systems (SMS).
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure that all manuals and drawings are kept current, ensuring that any updates are highlighted and sent to Document Control for processing.
  • Ensure compliance with Independent Competent Person (ICP) requirements.
  • Implement planned and corrective maintenance on all instrument and production equipment offshore, in a safe and competent manner, to safeguard the availability and operating condition so that maximum compliance and production targets can be achieved.
  • Clearly report deficiencies and malfunctions to the Maintenance Supervisor, discuss and analyse technical and spares issues with the Materials Coordinator and propose solutions related to eventual bottlenecks, deficiencies, and non-conformities.
  • Provide advice to the Maintenance Supervisor and Materials Coordinator on spares and backup equipment to be purchased to ensure that repair or replacement is carried out quickly and efficiently.
  • Maintain an accurate history in the CMMS System of work undertaken.
  • Ensure that Distributed Control System (DCS) and Integrated Control and Safety System (ICSS) Operating Procedures are adhered to and liaise with ICSS system expert/engineer to ensure adherence.
  • Ensure software licenses are current and that back-ups and system recovery tools are available.
  • Ensure that regular maintenance of the Fiscal Metering Package is performed in the absence of a Metering Technician as required.
  • Provide instrumentation and control assistance as and when required to the Electrical Department on all areas of the installation’s systems.
  • Provide guidance to all Instrument Technicians in matters pertaining to the safe operating of the installation.
  • Ensure safety-critical instrumentation equipment is maintained in accordance with performance standards for maximum availability.
  • Contribute to weekly and monthly maintenance plans.
  • Perform any other tasks as reasonably required.

Skills and Experience:

  • Experience in an Offshore Instrument Technician / Lead Instrument Technician position
  • Experience in instrument maintenance and repairs on the installation, providing technical guidance on instrument-related equipment; risk management requirements, ensuring all instrument-related risks in the production systems and associated utilities are identified and ensure compliance with procedures; safety requirements, including work permit systems, operational and emergency procedures, and company policies and instructions
  • Ability to carry out Emergency Response duties
  • Ability to work well as part of a team
  • Ability to communicate at all levels

Qualifications / Certification:

  • NVQ/SVQ level 3 in Instrumentation Engineering
  • Full Apprenticeship in an instrument engineering discipline
  • CompEx Recognised Practitioner Programme Ex01RPP - Ex04RPP
  • Safe Isolation & Re-instatement of Plant (SIRPS) OPITO Approved Training
