Bumble is looking for a Senior Android Engineer to join our Mobile Foundation team and help empower fellow Android engineers, as well as wider mobile teams, to deliver an amazing experience to our end users. You'll be joining a team of experienced native Android and iOS engineers who are unstoppable when it comes to solving technical challenges.
The Mobile Foundation team sits within our Mobile Platform Group, which is core to enabling the success of Bumble, Badoo, and BFF Apps. The group's objective is to equip mobile engineering teams with industry-leading, highly reliable, and fit-for-purpose frameworks, tools, services, and integrations for development, deployment, and quality control. The Mobile Foundation team assesses, develops, and educates best practices for other engineers, leads the evolution of our architecture patterns and principles, and constantly explores opportunities to optimise both our core frameworks and development processes.
What you'll Do:
- Explore new Kotlin language features and Android core frameworks, establishing best practices for their use.
- Contribute to the evolution of our open-source Appyx architecture.
- Drive the evolution of our core frameworks, such as Networking, Image Loading, Analytics and others.
- Explore ways to optimise the performance of our apps, components, and code.
- Drive high standards and best practices (coding, design, tools, principles), continuously improve and document them.
- Continuously improve the Mobile Foundation team's offerings by maintaining a robust feedback loop with mobile engineers.
About you:
- Advanced Android SDK / Kotlin skills.
- Strong knowledge of Android API capabilities at different levels, framework components and lifecycles.
- Excellent understanding of design patterns and Object-Oriented Programming.
- Sound computer science foundations: algorithms, data structures, concurrency, threading, and programming languages (Kotlin and Java).
- Solid communication skills, strong team-working capability, and a desire to influence and mentor other developers.
- Motivated and able to work autonomously.
- Attention to detail, structural thinking, and a passion for software design.
- You are excited about change.
