Bumble is looking for a talented Junior Android Engineer to contribute to our technical projects from specification through to delivery and beyond. You will impact millions of users, learn from the community, and experiment a lot. You will join the Mobile Experience Connect Team, which focuses on enhancing user interactions during and after they match. This team plays a crucial role in how people discover, get to know each other, and ultimately connect. Their latest feature, Opening Moves, has received significant media attention, and everyone involved is extremely proud of their efforts. Following the initial launch of this essential feature, the team has been focused on iterating and refining it to maximise user benefits.

What you’ll do:

  • Hands-on development: with support from other engineers, you will analyse product specifications, design implementations, write and test code and deliver Android app feature designs.
  • Contribute ideas and suggestions to enhance the direction of the product.
  • Work within an agile team (daily standups, weekly planning meetings).
  • Review analytics and performance metrics to draw conclusions and drive change.

About you:

  • Product-focused Android application development experience.
  • Android SDK / Kotlin skills.
  • Knowledge of Android API capabilities.
  • Understanding of design patterns & Object Oriented Programming.
  • Enthusiastic about teamwork in an AGILE/Scrum environment.
  • Sound computer science foundations: algorithms, data structures, concurrency, threading, and programming languages (Kotlin and Java).
  • You’ll love to write clean, reusable code and have a passion for mobile development inside and outside of the office.
  • Solid communication skills and team-working capability.
  • Positive and logical approach together with willingness to learn.
  • Attention to detail and a passion for quality.
  • A desire to work with a fresh, social digital brand.
