Bumble is seeking a Lead Android Engineer to join our Mobile Foundation team, supporting Android engineers and broader mobile teams to deliver exceptional user experiences.
You will join a team of experienced native Android and i OS engineers dedicated to solving technical challenges.
The Mobile Foundation team is part of our Mobile Platform Group, essential for enabling Bumble, Badoo, and BFF Apps' success.
Our goal is to provide mobile engineering teams with reliable, industry-leading frameworks, tools, services, and integrations for development, deployment, and quality assurance.
The team develops and promotes best practices, evolves architecture patterns, and explores opportunities to optimize frameworks and processes.
- What you’ll do
- Explore new Kotlin language features and Android frameworks, establishing best practices
- Contribute to the evolution of our open-source Appyx architecture
- Enhance core frameworks like Networking, Image Loading, Analytics, etc.
- Optimize app performance, components, and code
- Maintain high standards and best practices, and document them
- Lead technical roadmaps aligned with strategy and business goals
- Foster collaboration with mobile development teams
- Promote continuous process improvements
About you
- Advanced skills in Android SDK and Kotlin
- Strong knowledge of Android API, framework components, and lifecycles
- Excellent grasp of design patterns and OOP principles
- Solid foundations in algorithms, data structures, concurrency, threading, and programming in Kotlin and Java
- Experience with protobuf, g RPC, and socket networking (desirable)
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Mentorship abilities and role model qualities
- Attention to detail, structural thinking, and passion for software design
