Bumble is looking for a Network engineer to keep our network stable, predictable, controllable, and safe. This role will be based in London, reporting to the Head of Service Delivery.
What you'll do:
- Support our network infrastructure (multiple DCs and offices around the globe) and participate in network-related diagnostics (including the network subsystem of servers, CentOS).
- Improve the network: configuration management and automation of BaU tasks.
- Contribute in cloud networking, as we plan to transfer major part of the load there.
- Proactively cooperate with system engineers and spread knowledge related to the network.
- Communicate with service providers, including IP transit operators around the world.
- Manage the IP address space, subnets, and VLANs.
- Actively contribute to information security and ensure safe network perimeter.
- Participate in the on-call shifts.
About You:
- Experience in Linux system engineering: 3+ years, preferably rpm-based (RHEL, CentOS).
- Great skills in diagnostics and fixing: from web server low-performance cases to general issues with traffic delivery.
- Advanced knowledge: (L1-L4, L7) copper/optics, ethernet, static/dynamic routing.
- Experience using IS-IS and BGP (OSPF would be a plus).
- Extensive experience with Juniper vendor devices MX, SRX, QFX series.
- Experience with EVPN-VXLAN architecture.
- Experience in load balancing (CARP/IPVS/userspace/enterprise), packet filtering.
- Experience in cloud networking: building and supporting.
- Experience in 802.1X, 802.1Q, bonding - both serverside and network hardware side.
- Experience using CDN and high load.
- Great skills in diagnostics: IPv4 (IPv6 would be a plus), ICMP, TCP, UDP, DHCP, DNS.
- Experience in finding the cause "from the switch port to the OS": NIC, Linux network stack, iptables, iproute.
- Experience in DOS/DDOS prevention and mitigation.
- Experience in working within XFN team.
- Experience in supporting segmented heterogeneous network (300+ dataports).
- Understanding of infosecurity, feeling the balance between "reasonable" and "secure".
