The Commodity Manager is responsible for developing and executing sourcing strategies for all assigned product categories to ensure cost efficiency, quality, and supply continuity. Build supplier relationships, negotiate contracts, manage risk, and drive cost reduction initiatives while ensuring quality and timely delivery.
Main duties and responsibilities:
- Develop and implement commodity sourcing strategies and manage purchasing activities with nominated suppliers.
- Identify, evaluate, and onboard new sources of supply, to ensure that the supplier strategy fulfils the needs of Bulten and its customers in respect of quality, sustainability, logistics & act as an escalation point when required.
- Lead contract negotiations and setting of pricing agreements.
- Initiate and conduct cost saving projects to evaluate competitiveness of the supply base.
- Actively drive supplier/SKU rationalisation, consolidating volumes towards strategic or preferred vendors.
- Update and maintain purchase related data and registers in M3 i.e. pricelists.
- Drive value engineering initiatives managing projects that contribute to Bulten's long-term profitability.
- Analyse market trends, supply risks, and cost drivers and develop contingency plans.
- Manage supplier performance (quality, delivery, cost, innovation). Reporting progress in Canea.
- Collaborate with engineering, operations, quality, and finance teams.
- Responsible for the communication and adherence of all direct reports to Bulten Health and Safety Policy and procedures.
- Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge of and adherence to ISO 14001, ISO 45001 and IATF 16949.
Candidate Profile:
- Relevant degree in a commercial or purchasing-related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a commercial role.
- Proactive and self-motivated, with a strong sense of responsibility for outcomes.
- Strong negotiation and contract management skills.
- Strategic sourcing expertise.
- Cost analysis and financial acumen.
- Supplier relationship management.
- Risk management & problem-solving.
- Data analysis (ERP/MRP systems knowledge preferred).
- Excellent communication & cross-functional collaboration.
