Role Overview:
We’re looking for an experienced Financial Crime Manager & Deputy MLRO to take a senior, hands-on role in leading and strengthening JQB’s financial crime framework. Reporting to the MLRO, you will act as their deputy and play a key role in overseeing AML, fraud prevention, investigations, and regulatory engagement. You will have line management responsibility, influence across the business, and real ownership of financial crime risk management in a high-trust environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as Deputy MLRO, supporting the MLRO and providing cover as required
- Lead financial crime risk management across AML, fraud, sanctions, and suspicious activity
- Monitor suspicious activity, oversee escalations, and ensure high-quality SAR submissions
- Conduct and oversee customer due diligence, enhanced due diligence, and PEP/sanctions screening
- Own and maintain AML and financial crime policies, procedures, and controls
- Identify, assess, and mitigate financial crime risks across the business
- Collaborate with Customer Services, Operations, Marketing, Tech, and Finance to strengthen fraud prevention and controls
- Lead internal investigations and support responses to law enforcement and regulatory requests
- Manage, coach, and develop team members within the financial crime/compliance function
- Support audits, internal reviews, and enterprise-wide risk assessments
- Deliver and support AML and financial crime training across the business
- Contribute to JQB’s wider Annex I Financial Institution obligations and regulatory strategy
Skills & Experience:
- 5+ years’ experience in senior financial crime, AML, compliance, or fraud roles
- Strong working knowledge of UK AML regulations, SAR reporting, and risk frameworks
- Experience acting as a senior escalation point for financial crime issues
- Proven ability to draft, implement, and maintain policies and internal controls
- Confidence engaging with senior stakeholders and influencing operational teams
- Line management experience
- Strong investigative mindset with excellent attention to detail
- Experience in financial services, fintech, ecommerce, payments, or similar
- Comfortable using financial crime systems, screening tools, and reporting platforms
- ICA, ACAMS, or similar qualification (desirable but not essential)
