Role Overview:
We are hiring a Health, Safety & Facilities Officer to champion workplace safety, security, operational readiness and environmental compliance across our Birmingham operations. This hands-on role safeguards our colleagues and workplace by maintaining security, managing facilities partners, supporting incident response, and ensuring we continue to meet the standards expected of a high-value operational environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead proactive safety checks, inspections and risk assessments
- Maintain compliance with relevant workplace and H&S legislation
- Coordinate facilities maintenance, contractor attendance and site access requirements
- Support and improve operational monitoring and incident reporting processes
- Lead emergency preparedness activities including fire safety and evacuation drills
- Deliver effective onboarding and ongoing training related to safety and operational standards
- Build strong working relationships with external partners including service providers and authorities
- Promote a culture of accountability, awareness and pride in keeping the workplace safe, efficient and compliant
Skills & Experience:
- Experience in operational safety, facilities coordination or risk management (ideally within a high-value, regulated or operational environment)
- Understanding of workplace H&S regulations and safe systems of work
- Hands-on incident management and root-cause prevention experience
- Ability to work closely with teams across the business to influence behaviours
- Full UK driving licence - essential
- IOSH / NEBOSH - desirable
- First Aid / Fire Marshal - beneficial
- Working knowledge of monitoring systems (CCTV, alarms, access controls) - beneficial but not essential
