The opportunity Our client is an international B2B sportsbook technology business with R&D in Bulgaria, powering operators across Europe and Latin America. The business is entering a defined transformation period: strengthening the foundations of its product and operation with senior leaders, AI and automation ahead of its next phase of growth. The business prices and manages risk across a rapidly growing volume of GGR. This role exists to build market-leading pricing and risk models, together with the model-driven features that help operators win - including bet builder and same-game pricing, cash-out valuation, personalisation and market availability.

Working hand in hand with the R&D trading teams, you will move the book towards automated pricing and risk through gated stages, proving each step in production before progressing to the next. You will also help define the future trading operating model and the role of human traders within it.

What you'll own

  • Build and lead the quantitative trading capability across in-play and pre-match pricing, risk and liability modelling, and trading automation.
  • Own the models behind best-in-class product features, including bet builder and same-game pricing, cash-out valuation, personalisation and market availability.
  • Set the automation sequence with the VP R&D Trading and Chief Trading Officer, determining which markets, sports and processes automate first and the evidence required at each gate.
  • Own model quality against the current baseline, including margin, hold, price accuracy and market availability.
  • Work directly with R&D trading teams and the AI core to productionise models and strengthen the data platform behind them.
  • Redefine the role of the human trader from price-setter to model supervisor and exception handler.

What success looks like

  • Autonomous in-play football pricing is live across an initial market set and holds margin through a full season in parallel with the existing desk.
  • Automated risk and liability limits are operating in production, with human override and full auditability.
  • A clear, gated roadmap exists for the remaining sports and markets, with an agreed evidence standard for each stage.
  • Bet builder and cash-out pricing perform measurably at best-in-class levels against leading operators.
  • The trading operating model is redesigned around automation and agreed with Trading leadership.
  • Market availability and pricing quality have measurably improved for operators.

What we're looking for

  • A quantitative leader who has built or run automated pricing and risk models at scale.
  • Sportsbook or high-frequency trading model experience is strongly preferred.
  • A deep quantitative background in statistics, machine learning and stochastic modelling, combined with strong hands-on modelling ability.
  • Experience taking pricing models from research into live production books, including the operational and cultural changes required for model-driven trading.
  • A rigorous approach to measurement and the ability to prove that a model holds before trusting it with the book.
  • An AI-first approach, using AI tooling as the default across modelling, research and development.
  • The credibility to work equally effectively with traders, quantitative specialists and engineers.

Why this role stands out

  • Build the quantitative trading capability and its team, rather than inherit a narrow modelling remit.
  • Own the route from research to live production and see the commercial impact of the models you create.
  • Shape how automated pricing, risk and human trading work together in the future operating model.
  • Work remotely while remaining closely connected to the trading and R&D leadership teams in Sofia.
  • Receive a senior leadership package at international market rates, including equity participation.
