About the Company
We are a progressive, fast‑growing business in the fitness industry, combining creativity, production, and technology to support a rapidly expanding client base. We operate as a fully remote organisation, with no permanent office, supported by strong communication and trust‑based working practices. We bring the team together through a weekly all‑company meeting, daily huddles and optional monthly in‑person team meetups.
As the business scales, we are developing a finance function that can grow with it. We are looking for a hands‑on Finance Manager / Management Accountant to take ownership of day‑to‑day finance operations, reporting, and financial controls on a 3‑day‑per‑week basis initially, with scope to increase hours over time. A fractional Finance Director provides high‑level guidance, but this role will be the primary internal finance lead. There is a clear pathway for the role to develop into Financial Controller as the business grows.
Role Overview
This is a hands‑on, operational finance role suited to someone who enjoys working in a growing, forward‑thinking environment. Initially, the role will cover invoicing, reconciliations, payroll, and reporting. Over time, transactional and admin‑heavy work can be delegated to a finance/admin assistant, allowing the role to focus increasingly on review, control, and commercial insight. An interest in fitness, sport, or healthy living is highly desirable, as the role works closely with teams and clients within the fitness industry.
The setup
- 3 days per week (initially)
- Fully remote role (no permanent office)
- Weekly all‑company meeting to kick off the week
- Optional monthly in‑person team meetups
- Supported by a fractional Finance Director (approx. 1 hr/month)
- You’ll be the main internal finance lead, with a clear pathway to Financial Controller as the role and business scale.
What you’ll be doing
- Producing monthly management accounts and balance sheet reconciliations
- Managing invoicing, credit control, and client finance queries
- Running payroll, commissions, pensions, and P11Ds
- Monitoring cashflow and supporting budgets and forecasts
- Preparing VAT returns and supporting year‑end accounts
- Improving finance systems, processes, and documentation
- Helping shape a scalable finance function (including future admin support)
About you
- Experience in a hands‑on finance role within a growing business
- Relevant accountancy qualification: AAT qualified, part‑qualified, or fully qualified (CIMA / ACCA / ACA or equivalent)
- Strong reconciliation and reporting skills
- Comfortable working fully remotely and taking ownership
- Confident managing multiple systems and high transaction volumes
- Interest in fitness, sport, or healthy living is highly desirable
Why join us?
- Flexible 3‑day‑per‑week role with autonomy
- Fully remote working
- Clear progression to Financial Controller
- High ownership and influence in a scaling business
- Fitness industry exposure
- Salary £40,000–£50,000 FTE (pro rata depending on days)
