This is anexcellent opportunity for an outstanding, ambitious and passionate Teacher of MediaStudies to join the team.
Overview
To deliver high-quality, engaging and challenging MediaStudies teaching across Key Stages 4 and 5, enabling students to develop astrong understanding of media industries, audiences, representations, languageand contexts.
The successful candidate will inspire students to becomecritical, creative and confident media practitioners and analysts, whilecontributing positively to the wider life and development of the department and the Sixth Form.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching and Learning
- Plan and deliver engaging, well-structured lessonsin Media Studies at GCSE and A Level/Sixth Form.
- Teach a broad range of media forms, includingprint, television, film, online and social media, advertising, magazines,music video and other relevant contemporary media.
- Develop students' ability to analyse media productscritically and apply relevant theoretical concepts and terminology.
- Support students in developing practical productionskills, including planning, research, photography, filming, editing,design and digital production where appropriate.
- Differentiate teaching effectively to meet theneeds of students of differing abilities and backgrounds.
- Set appropriate homework, coursework andindependent study activities.
- Assess students' work accurately and providetimely, constructive feedback.
- Track student progress and implement appropriateinterventions where required.
- Prepare students effectively for GCSE and A Levelexaminations and coursework/non-examined assessment.
Sixth Form Responsibilities
- Teach and support students undertaking MediaStudies at post-16 level.
- Develop students' independence, academic confidenceand ability to undertake extended critical and analytical work.
- Provide effective guidance on coursework,independent research and examination preparation.
- Contribute to Sixth Form enrichment, includingacademic mentoring, university and careers guidance where appropriate.
- Encourage students to develop the skills requiredfor progression to higher education, apprenticeships, employment andfurther study.
