Job Description - First Aid Officer Location: Bullers Wood School for Girls Reports to: PA to Headteacher & Office Manager Office Location: First Aid Room (B7a) Salary: BR6 £27,262 - £29,900 (pro-rata £22,162) Working Hours: 35 hours a week Lunch Break: 35 minutes (unpaid) Contract Type: 38 weeks a year Date: September 2026 Job Purpose A First Aid Officer is responsible for administering appropriate care for injuries (such as cuts, sprains) or illnesses ensuring safety, protecting themselves, the student and bystanders. Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the First Aid room in line with the DFEs Guidance on First Aid in Schools
  • Primary contact for First Aid
  • Allergy Lead for the School
  • Ensure student Health Care Plans are correctly recorded and kept up to date
  • Ensure student medical data is accurately recorded on SIMS and CPOMS
  • Responsible for safe keeping of students' medications and appropriate liaison with parents/carers
  • Record and maintain accident forms
  • Recording students signing in and out on SIMS
  • Ensure first aid supplies are fully stocked
  • Liaise with Bromley Healthcare and organise vaccinations:
    + Year 7-11 Flu Vaccinations (and catch ups)
    + Year 8 HPV Vaccinations (and catch ups)
    + Year 9 DTP/MEN Vaccinations (and catch ups)
  • Liaise with Bromley Healthcare as needed for any school wide requirements
  • Liaise with Health Protection Agency for reportable illnesses as appropriate
  • Arrange First Aid training for staff
  • Keep records of all formal and informal conversations and treatments and advice given to students
  • Support students on an individual basis with their emotional wellbeing
  • Liaise with DSL/DDSL, SENDCO and other pastoral staff as appropriate
  • Prepare ad hoc medical signage and put up around school (ie. Defibrillators)
  • Maintain list of students issued Time Out / Toilet Passes and create passes for students
  • Support the wider admin team at peak times with various administrative tasks
  • Have weekly/regular meetings with PA to Headteacher & Office Manager for support and to discuss issues arising
  • Annual appraisal and objective setting with PA to Headteacher & Office Manager
  • Participate in staff development days as appropriate
  • Assist in ensuring Health & Safety in the workplace
  • Undertake any other duties as may be reasonably requested by the DHT/HT/Office Manager
