This is a varied role working across heritage, ecclesiastical restoration and conservation projects on historic buildings. We are looking for an experienced Heritage Joiner to carry out high-quality restoration, repair, and conservation joinery works using traditional materials and techniques on listed and historic buildings.
- Carrying out repairs and restoration to historic timber features and structures
- Manufacturing and installing traditional joinery including doors, windows, mouldings, panelling, and bespoke timber components
- Repairing and replacing decayed timber using appropriate conservation techniques
- Working with hardwoods, softwoods, and traditional materials to match existing fabric
- Carrying out sensitive restoration work on heritage and ecclesiastical projects
- Interpreting drawings, specifications, and templates to produce accurate work
- Working safely with hand and power tools in workshop and site environments
- Operating on construction and heritage sites both indoors and outdoors throughout the year
- Collaborating effectively with colleagues while also being confident working independently
The ideal candidate will have:
- Proven experience in joinery, carpentry, or heritage restoration works
- Strong understanding of traditional joinery methods and timber repairs
- Experience working on historic buildings and conservation projects
- Excellent attention to detail and pride in producing high-quality workmanship
- Confidence working at height and handling materials safely
- The ability to interpret drawings and specifications accurately
- A professional and reliable approach to work
- A genuine appreciation for historic buildings and conservation standards
- Experience working on heritage and listed buildings, conservation projects, or works carried out in line with the principles of Historic England would be highly advantageous.
