With a strong focus on safety, innovation, and continuous improvement, we are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Facilities Engineer to oversee the maintenance and upkeep of our entire site, including three workshops and the main office building at our Middlesbrough Head Office. The successful candidate will work as part of the Workshop team. Joining Bulkhaul means becoming part of a Company with a truly international presence.

The Role

As a Facilities Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation, maintenance, and compliance of all site facilities. This includes managing the upkeep of buildings, infrastructure, and essential mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems to ensure a safe and efficient working environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct routine maintenance, servicing, and repairs across the entire site, including workshops and office facilities.
  • Ensure all facilities comply with health & safety regulations and company policies.
  • Diagnose and resolve all faults, including mechanical, electrical, and plumbing.
  • Conduct regular site inspections to identify and prevent potential issues.
  • Coordinate and manage external contractors for specialist maintenance work.
  • Oversee building security, fire safety, and emergency systems.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance work, risk assessments, and compliance documentation.
  • Identify and implement site improvements to enhance efficiency and safety.

Core Skills/Attributes

  • Proven experience in a facilities engineering or maintenance role covering multiple buildings.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems.
  • 18th Edition BS7671.
  • Familiarity with health & safety regulations, fire safety, and compliance requirements.
  • Ability to work independently and proactively manage maintenance tasks.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a hands-on approach.
  • Relevant technical qualifications in engineering, building maintenance, or facilities management (preferred).
