Bulk is on an incredible journey with a mission to move the business from a manufacturing‑led retailer to a destination brand for active nutrition. We are shaking up the sports nutrition industry through disruptive marketing campaigns that help people think differently about our brand – and we want you to be a part of it! We want passionate risk‑takers who like to challenge our thinking. We want people who live and breathe digital and have an affinity for the world of nutrition, health, fitness, and sports.

As our Process Technologist at Bulk™, you’ll play a key role in turning innovative product concepts into scalable, commercially successful realities. Sitting at the heart of product delivery, you’ll ensure both new and existing products are manufactured safely, consistently, and efficiently across our production network. Working cross‑functionally with Innovation, Technical, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain teams, you’ll lead the optimisation of processes from trial through to launch. You’ll drive continuous improvement, support robust product rollouts, and help ensure every product consistently meets the high standards our customers expect.

What Will You Be Doing

  • Product Development: Act as the technical link between Innovation and Manufacturing during NPD/EPD projects. Translate formulation and product briefs into scalable and efficient manufacturing processes. Assess process feasibility, identify risks, and recommend modifications before factory trials. Lead and document production trials, ensuring successful scale‑up from pilot to full commercial run. Ensure all necessary process parameters, equipment settings, and SOP updates are created and approved.
  • Process Development & Optimisation: Analyse current processes, identify inefficiencies, and introduce improvements to maximise yield, quality, and throughput. Support automation, machinery upgrades, and new technology integration projects. Develop and validate process controls, critical control points (CCPs), and quality parameters. Perform root‑cause analysis for process deviations and implement corrective/preventive actions (CAPAs).
  • Technical Support & Problem Solving: Provide hands‑on support to manufacturing teams when issues arise with mixing, blending, encapsulation, tabletting, sachet filling, or other processes relevant to sports nutrition production. Troubleshoot equipment, material flow, texture/consistency issues, and in‑process quality failures. Work with Supplier Technical on raw material behaviour, processing characteristics, and technical specifications.
  • Documentation & Compliance: Produce and maintain detailed manufacturing instructions, batch documentation, and process validation records. Ensure all processes meet regulatory and certification requirements for UK & EU markets (e.g., HACCP, GMP, BRC, ISO, FSMS). Support Technical team with risk assessments, change controls, and specification updates. Master data ownership.
  • Cross‑Functional Collaboration: Innovation: ensuring feasibility, manufacturability, and stability of new product ideas. Technical/Quality: ensuring all processes are safe, compliant, and meet product quality standards. Manufacturing/Operations: supporting day‑to‑day production, continuous improvement, and training. Supplier Technical/Supply Chain: ensuring raw materials and packaging meet processing requirements. Act as a technical ambassador to drive right‑first‑time production and strong commercial execution.

What Are We Looking For?

  • Understanding of HACCP, GMP, food safety requirements, and quality systems.
  • Proven experience in process optimisation, scale‑up, or continuous improvement.
  • Excellent problem‑solving ability with a hands‑on, practical approach.
