The Role

Responsible for the Engineering Lab areas.

Moreover, this role supports the engineering department with prototype assembly, customer sample manufacture, prototyping, testing and manufacturing of new connectivity solutions, ensuring manufacturing considerations are incorporated during the prototype build process.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manages and runs the departmental lab areas, stores and engineering consumables.
  • Oversees, documents and coordinates equipment calibration.
  • Manages Engineering Lab work instructions, risk assessments and associated documentation.
  • Manages customer sample requests and prototype build activities, including 3D printing and machining, providing feedback on manufacturing and assembly considerations during the build process.
  • Performs prototype assembly, testing and inspection activities to support the department.
  • Supports the verification and validation of new product designs for manufacturing feasibility through prototype assembly and inspection.
  • Supports the introduction of new products into full production through prototype build activities.
  • Completes general engineering support activities as assigned.
  • Qualification and experience
  • Engineering qualification or relevant experience in a similar role.
  • Hands-on experience in prototype assembly, inspection and testing.
  • Proven experience with cable harnessing and assembly.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, work instructions and assembly documentation.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, etc.).
  • Good written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Willingness to travel abroad when the business requires this of you.
  • Familiarity with rapid prototyping, including 3D printing, lathe, and milling machine usage
  • Experience supporting prototype builds and new product introduction
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes
  • Experience creating 3D CAD models and technical drawings
