We are seeking an experienced Project Lead – Substation to join a major hyperscale data centre development in Berlin. This is a client-side leadership role overseeing the successful delivery of high-voltage substation infrastructure from design through to commissioning.

The successful candidate will take ownership of all aspects of substation delivery, ensuring compliance with German and European legislation, managing multidisciplinary stakeholders, and driving programme, quality, and safety standards across the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the end-to-end delivery of HV/MV substation packages on a large-scale data centre project
  • Oversee design coordination, technical compliance, and construction execution
  • Ensure all works comply with relevant German regulations, EU legislation, grid requirements, and industry standards
  • Manage consultants, contractors, and specialist suppliers throughout project delivery
  • Act as the primary client-side representative for all substation-related activities
  • Monitor programme, budget, risk, and quality performance
  • Coordinate interfaces between electrical, civil, and utility stakeholders
  • Support commissioning, energisation, and handover activities
  • Drive health & safety excellence across all project phases

Requirements

  • Proven experience delivering HV substations within data centre, utilities, energy, or mission-critical environments
  • Strong understanding of German and European electrical legislation and standards
  • Experience managing complex projects from concept through delivery
  • Background in client-side or principal contractor environments preferred
  • Excellent stakeholder management and leadership skills
  • Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering or related discipline
  • Fluent English required; German advantageous
