Role Overview
Reporting to the Depot Manager, the Training & Compliance Supervisor plays a critical role within Operations, ensuring all traffic management activities are delivered in full compliance with client requirements, LANTRA standards, and HSE legislation. This is a predominantly site-based role with responsibility for auditing, coaching, and developing Traffic Management Operatives (TMOs), supporting client engagement, and driving continuous improvement in safety, compliance, and operational performance. You will work closely with depot colleagues and central functions including Compliance, Fleet, Finance, and HR.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out regular site audits and inspections, including TMO compliance checks, RAMS reviews, on/off-hire documentation and damage reports using digital systems.
- Ensure all traffic management installations comply with client specifications, LANTRA standards and HSE legislation, identifying and addressing non-compliance promptly.
- Report all incidents, accidents and near misses in line with company procedures and legislative requirements.
- Train, coach, and develop Traffic Management Operatives, providing on-the-job assessment, mentoring and ongoing support to ensure competence and consistent standards.
- Support client engagement during pre-start, on-site and post-site meetings, representing BUKO Traffic & Safety in a professional manner.
- Build effective working relationships with colleagues, clients and suppliers, working collaboratively across depot and support functions.
- Ensure effective use of IT and monitor stock and equipment levels, escalating shortages or issues as required.
- Stay up to date with industry developments, legislation, and best practice, contributing to continuous improvement in safety, compliance and operational performance.
Skills, Experience & Qualifications
- Valid LANTRA M6 qualification (essential).
- Previous experience in a Training, Compliance, or Supervisory role within Traffic Management preferred.
- Strong working knowledge of LANTRA regulations, HSE legislation and client compliance requirements.
- Confident communicator with the ability to coach, influence and build credibility on site and with clients.
- Full UK driving licence with no more than 6 points.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
