Built In Talent is partnering with a growing digital consultancy to appoint a Business Development Manager focused on expanding existing relationships and winning new business across UK Central Government. This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established consultancy with ambitious growth plans, a strong delivery capability and an impressive track record supporting government organisations with digital transformation, cloud, data and technology-led change programmes.

The Role

You'll be responsible for identifying, developing and converting new business opportunities across Central Government, building long-term relationships and driving sustainable revenue growth. This is a predominantly new business role (approximately 70-80%) and would suit someone who already has an established network within government departments and understands how public sector organisations procure consultancy and digital services.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Identifying and pursuing new business opportunities across Central Government.
  • Building and maintaining relationships with senior stakeholders.
  • Developing account growth and pursuit strategies.
  • Creating and managing a healthy sales pipeline.
  • Working closely with delivery, practice and product teams to shape client solutions.
  • Leading client engagement activities, networking and industry events.
  • Supporting bids, proposals and framework opportunities.
  • Collaborating with marketing teams on targeted campaigns and market positioning.
  • Developing strategic partnerships that enhance service offerings and market reach.

About You

We're keen to speak with individuals who have experience selling consultancy, digital transformation, cloud, technology or professional services into UK Government. You'll likely come from a consultancy, digital services business or technology partner and have a strong understanding of how government programmes are funded, procured and delivered.

Requirements:

  • Proven track record selling consultancy, digital transformation, cloud or technology services.
  • Experience selling into UK Central Government.
  • Existing relationships within departments such as: Home Office, HMRC, DWP, HMC, TSC, Cabinet Office, FCDO.
  • Strong new business development experience.
  • Demonstrable record of winning and growing client accounts.
  • Ability to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication, presentation and relationship-building skills.

Desirable:

  • Active SC Clearance.
  • Experience working with government frameworks such as G-Cloud and DOS.
  • Experience selling cloud, AI, data or digital transformation solutions.

Working Arrangements

Fully remote position within the UK. Travel to client sites as required. Very occasional visits to the London office. Significant flexibility and autonomy.
