Java Software Engineer | Cheltenham | Up to Β£50,000

We're working with an established software company in Cheltenham that's looking for a Java Software Engineer to join its growing development team.

You'll be working on a cloud-based SaaS platform used by enterprise customers worldwide, taking ownership of new development as well as helping improve the performance, security and reliability of the wider platform.

What you'll be doing:

  • Designing, developing and maintaining features across a Java-based SaaS platform
  • Building and maintaining APIs and backend services
  • Working with Java, Spring/Spring Boot and modern development practices
  • Investigating production issues and implementing long-term fixes
  • Improving code quality, application security and platform reliability
  • Contributing to CI/CD, deployment automation and engineering best practices
  • Working closely with the wider development team across the full software lifecycle

What we're looking for:

  • 3+ years' commercial software development experience
  • Experience with Spring and/or Spring Boot
  • Comfortable working with APIs, databases and complex existing codebases
  • Experience with Git, code reviews and CI/CD workflows
  • Good problem-solving skills and the ability to take ownership of your work
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach

Experience with any of the following would be beneficial, but isn't essential:

  • AWS, including services such as EC2, S3 or RDS
  • Mentoring or supporting other developers

Salary: Up to Β£50,000

Location: Cheltenham, with flexible working available
