Engineering Technician (Civil & Structural) – Flexible Working | Hybrid/Compressed Hours | Industry-Competitive Salary

Location: England (Hybrid working available)

Contract: Full-Time, Permanent

Salary: £30,000 – £42,000 (dependent on experience & location – aligned with industry benchmarks)

Holiday: 25 days annual leave + bank holidays

We’re looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Civil & Structural Engineering Technician to support the delivery of a wide range of residential, commercial, and infrastructure projects across the UK.

With the Collective including full architectural services, planning consultancy, energy assessors, building surveyors and partners in quantity surveying as well as our current engineers at WECE, you will work with, and learn from a number of other specialists.

Responsibilities

  1. Produce high-quality 2D and 3D technical drawings for both structural (steel, concrete, timber, masonry) and civil (drainage, highways, external works) elements
  2. Assist engineers in preparing design packages, layouts, and detailed construction information
  3. Support with planning drawings, Building Regulation submissions, and construction detailing
  4. Interpret and coordinate topographical surveys, ground investigation data, and site constraints
  5. Assist in preparing technical documents for Section 104, 106, and 278 applications
  6. Work closely with engineers, architects, and contractors to coordinate technical design
  7. Ensure all work complies with UK standards, Building Regs, and relevant codes of practice

Requirements

  1. 3+ years’ experience in a civil/structural engineering consultancy or multidisciplinary practice
  2. Proficiency in AutoCAD (essential); knowledge of Civil 3D, Revit, or Site 3D, MicroDrainage/InfoDrainage is desirable
  3. Understanding of structural detailing, foundation layouts, reinforcement, and civil layouts
  4. Experience working on a mix of domestic and commercial projects
  5. Strong attention to detail and a proactive, problem-solving approach
  6. HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in Civil or Structural Engineering
  7. Membership (or working towards) of an accredited body such as EngTech MICE or IStructE is advantageous
