The Role
We’re looking for a motivated Quantity Surveyor to join our Plymouth‑based team. This role covers the full project lifecycle — from pre‑construction, estimating and tendering, through to on‑site commercial management and final accounts. You’ll be working across diverse projects in the South West, with flexible working options available.
What You’ll Do
- Supporting pre‑construction activities, including preparing cost plans, feasibility studies, and budget estimates.
- Assisting with tendering processes: preparing BOQs, analysing subcontractor quotations, and compiling tender submissions.
- Preparing, managing, and monitoring project budgets and cost plans.
- Measuring and valuing works, including preparation of interim applications and final accounts.
- Managing subcontractor procurement, payments, and performance.
- Supporting contract administration and compliance (JCT and NEC contracts).
- Conducting site visits and working closely with project managers and site teams.
- Providing commercial support throughout project lifecycles, from tender through to completion.
- Identifying risks and opportunities to ensure projects are delivered to programme and budget.
Qualifications & Skills
- Degree or equivalent qualification in Quantity Surveying or related discipline (preferred but not essential).
- Strong analytical and numerical skills with a commercial mindset.
- Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
- Knowledge of construction contracts, particularly JCT and/or NEC.
- Proficiency in cost management software and MS Office.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Relevant industry experience within construction, refurbishment, or property services.
