Construction Site Manager to be based on site near Okehampton, West Devon. Employment Type: Full Time – 12 Month Fixed Term Contract (with potential for permanent employment). This opportunity is also open on a Self-Employed, Freelance or temporary contract basis. What we need:
- Construction related qualification (HNC/HND) and/or relevant trade qualification
- Current Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS)
- Current First Aid at Work qualification
- Proven and recent experience as a Site Manager within the construction industry
- Strong leadership and team coordination skills across multiple trades and disciplines
- Excellent problem solving abilities and decision making skills
- Competent IT skills, including experience with Microsoft Office packages
- Strong understanding of Health & Safety legislation and compliance requirements
- Self‑motivated, proactive and professional approach to work
- Positive attitude and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team

Job Description:
Reporting to the Executive Manager, the Site Manager will oversee the successful delivery of a live construction project involving a wide range of trades and construction activities. This role requires strong leadership, effective communication and close collaboration with Senior Managers to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently and to the highest standard possible. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring allocated projects operate efficiently and profitably while maintaining full compliance with Health & Safety legislation and contractual obligations. The critical conditions being that all work is completed in a safe working manner, within programme and to the total satisfaction of our client.
Responsibilities:
- Managing and overseeing the day‑to‑day running of the project, taking full responsibility for site operations and team performance.
- Ensuring all Health & Safety procedures and CDM Regulations are fully implemented and maintained on site to the highest of standards.
- Reviewing and improving RAMS as well as obtaining and issuing relevant permits.
- Coordinating and supporting site teams, plant and machinery to maximise efficiency and effective use of resources.
- Identifying areas for improvement and ensuring high housekeeping standards are consistently maintained.
- Monitoring workmanship standards to ensure quality is maintained and delivered in accordance project specifications and design requirements.
- Attending and contributing to regular site meetings with client, Architect, Quantity Surveyor, Planning Supervisor etc.
- Agree pricing and instructions with the Executive Manager.
- Procurement, negotiation and monitoring the performance of sub‑contractors and suppliers.
- Identifying and implementing improvements to any aspect of the service that we provide.
- Introduction and sourcing of new suppliers/ sub‑contractors where required.
- Delivering exceptional levels of customer care and client satisfaction at all times.
- Ensuring projects are delivered within agreed timescales and programme requirements.
- Providing support and cover for associated staff during periods of absence.
- Regular use of company systems and software packages including Microsoft Word, Excel and Project.
- Carrying out additional duties and responsibilities as required in line with project progression.
Due to the nature of our works, the Company requires all employees to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. This will include a check against the Children’s and Adults’ Barred List. Given that client vetting requirements vary and change, you may be required to undergo a variety of vetting checks for our clients during your employment and this may result in further checks at intervals determined by the Company and in accordance with applicable regulations.
