We are seeking an experienced Site Engineer to join the project team on a £24m distribution centre development in Norwich. This is an excellent opportunity to work on a large-scale industrial scheme, playing a key role in the successful delivery of the project through accurate setting out, quality assurance, technical support, and coordination of site activities.

Working closely with the Project Manager, Site Manager, subcontractors, and design teams, you will ensure works are delivered safely, accurately, and in accordance with programme and quality requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Engineering & Setting Out
    • Carry out setting out and surveying activities across all areas of the project.
    • Establish and maintain site control points and benchmarks.
    • Ensure dimensional accuracy and compliance with project specifications.
    • Interpret drawings, specifications, and technical information.
    • Identify and resolve engineering issues, raising RFIs where necessary.
    • Maintain accurate engineering records and site documentation.
    • Manage and maintain survey equipment and calibration records.
  • Quality Assurance
    • Implement and monitor quality control procedures.
    • Complete inspections and quality assurance documentation.
    • Produce and maintain accurate as-built records.
    • Ensure works are delivered in accordance with Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs).
    • Raise and manage NCRs where required.
    • Monitor workmanship and ensure compliance with project standards.
  • Site Coordination
    • Provide technical support to site management and subcontractors.
    • Coordinate engineering activities with the construction programme.
    • Assist with temporary works coordination and implementation.
    • Monitor progress and report on completed works.
    • Maintain daily site records, photographs, and progress reports.
    • Support the delivery team in achieving key project milestones.
  • Health, Safety & Environmental
    • Ensure compliance with all health, safety, environmental, and quality procedures.
    • Promote a positive safety culture across site operations.
    • Identify and report potential risks and hazards.
    • Support site management in maintaining a safe working environment.
Requirements
  • Degree, HNC, HND, or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Previous experience working as a Site Engineer on construction projects.
  • Strong setting out and surveying experience.
  • Experience using Leica, Trimble, or similar surveying equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.
  • Proactive approach with excellent attention to detail.
  • Industrial, logistics, warehouse, or commercial project experience is desirable.
