Mechanical Package Reporting To: Visiting Project Director

Team Size: 25-30 operatives (Plumbing, Ventilation, AC teams)

Role Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Site Manager to oversee the delivery of a £3m building services package on a large commercial project in Bristol City Centre. You will act as the on-site lead for all mechanical works, coordinating and managing subcontract labour across HVRF, plumbing, ventilation, and associated building services disciplines. The role sits within a subcontractor environment and requires strong site leadership, coordination, and delivery focus.

You will be responsible for managing multiple trade gangs, ensuring programme adherence, quality control, health & safety compliance, and smooth coordination with the main contractor and visiting project director.

  • Lead day-to-day site delivery of all mechanical building services works
  • HVRF installation teams
  • Plumbing & pipefitting teams
  • Oversee installation of:
    • AHUs (Air Handling Units)
    • Domestic Hot Water (DHW) systems
  • Attend and contribute to site meetings with main contractor and client team
  • Manage subcontract labour performance, sequencing, and productivity
  • Support commissioning readiness and handover processes

Proven experience as a Mechanical Site Manager on large-scale building services projects:

  • Plumbing & pipefitting
  • Heating systems
  • Previous experience working on subcontractor packages within main contractor environments
  • Exposure to commercial or large residential developments (ideally £1m+ mechanical packages)
  • Strong understanding of site coordination, sequencing, and trade management
  • SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme)
  • CSCS Card (Black or Gold preferred)
  • Strong leadership of multiple trade gangs
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings
  • Commercial awareness of programme-driven delivery
  • Confident reporting into senior project leadership
