What you’ll do

  • Lead and mentor a team of software engineers, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment that encourages professional growth and development.
  • Oversee the entire software development lifecycle, from initial concept through to deployment and maintenance, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality software products.
  • Collaborate closely with product management and other stakeholders to define project requirements and translate them into actionable engineering tasks.
  • Implement best practices in software development, including agile methodologies, code reviews, and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) processes.
  • Monitor and evaluate team performance, providing constructive feedback and guidance to help team members achieve their professional goals.
  • Manage project timelines and resources effectively, ensuring that projects are delivered on schedule and within budget.
  • Identify and mitigate risks associated with software development projects, proactively addressing potential issues before they impact delivery.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies, integrating relevant advancements into the team's work to enhance product offerings.
  • Foster a culture of innovation by encouraging team members to propose new ideas and solutions that improve existing processes and products.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of software solutions with other systems and processes within the organization.
  • Conduct regular team meetings to discuss project progress, address challenges, and celebrate successes, maintaining high team morale.
  • Prepare and present reports to senior management on project status, team performance, and strategic initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in software development, with at least 2 years in a leadership or managerial role.
  • Proven experience in managing software engineering teams and delivering complex software projects on time and within budget.
  • Strong knowledge of software development methodologies, including Agile and Scrum.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, C#, or Python, along with experience in web development technologies.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically under pressure.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams.
  • Experience with cloud technologies and platforms, such as AWS or Azure, is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools, including CI/CD pipelines, is a plus.
  • A passion for technology and a commitment to continuous learning and improvement.

Nice to have

  • Experience in the construction or safety industry is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of software architecture and design patterns.
  • Familiarity with data analytics and machine learning concepts.
  • Previous experience in a startup or fast-paced environment.

  • Proficient in software development tools and technologies, including version control systems (e.g., Git), issue tracking systems (e.g., Jira), and collaboration tools (e.g., Confluence).
  • Strong understanding of database management systems (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL) and web services (RESTful APIs).
  • Familiarity with front-end technologies such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript frameworks (e.g., React, Angular) is beneficial.
  • Experience with automated testing frameworks and tools to ensure software quality.
