ARD Consulting Engineers Ltd are looking for a Structural Engineer to join their team! The candidate is required to have experience in steel design and portal frames.
About the company:
ARD Consulting Engineers is a UK civil & structural engineering consultancy specialising in structural steel design and inspection for commercial, industrial and agricultural buildings. They’re growing — and want another solid engineer in the team.
Job Description:
- Steel portal frame and steel frame design (this is the core of the role so experience is a MUST)
- Design work that’s practical, buildable, and contractor-friendly
- Coordination with the team so projects move quickly and cleanly
- Site inspections and surveys for refurb/reuse, extensions and modifications (factories, industrial units, agricultural buildings)
- Structural assessments for changes to existing buildings (loads, alterations, upgrades)
The right candidate will have:
- Steel design and portal frames experience (non negotiable)
- AutoCAD drawing experience (minimum)
- Real experience as a Structural Engineer (Chartership NOT required)
- You want to focus on structural steel design + inspection
- You can produce clear, buildable outputs
- Designing steel by hand, spreadsheet and software
Bonus skills:
- Revit experience (not essential)
- MasterSeries experience (advantageous, but not critical)
This role is NOT for you if:
- You want to do lots of concrete design (we don’t do a lot - mostly floor slabs, foundations and pile cap design)
- You only want a couple of big prestige projects with endless meetings and slow decisions
- You’d rather stay behind a screen and never step on site and interact with contractors, architects and the end client.
What ARD Consulting Engineers Ltd can offer you:
- £35,000–£45,000 salary DOE
- 60%+ of your role will be office-based steel design
- Hybrid working set up
- Minimum 23 days annual leave + bank holidays
- Paid sick leave (after probation, increases with length of service)
- Health insurance for you (& your family) as part of a salary sacrifice.
- A team that values quality, honesty, and doing things properly
So, if this sounds like you- please apply today! We’d love to hear from you.
