About Building Ventilation Solutions (BVS) Building Ventilation Solutions Ltd is a fast-growing, family‑run HVAC engineering company specialising in air handling unit (AHU) refurbishment, ventilation upgrades, controls work, and bespoke AHU manufacture across the UK. We operate across a wide range of sectors including healthcare, education, leisure, retail, commercial, and industrial environments. Due to continued growth, we are looking for a practical HVAC Technical Engineer to join our team.

The Role

We are looking to employ a mechanically and electrically minded person who has the ability to use their own initiative to troubleshoot problems. The role involves a mix of site‑based and office‑based work, including nationwide travel to carry out fan retrofits, AHU refurbishments, and system upgrades, alongside supporting project planning and quotations from the office. You will be expected to use your initiative to troubleshoot issues on site and contribute to delivering high‑quality engineering solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Attend sites to carry out diagnostic work and identify system issues
  • Produce clear and accurate site reports
  • Use technical software to support project quoting and selection and ordering of materials for site
  • Safely use power tools for removal and installation of systems
  • Ensure all work is completed safely and in line with site rules, risk assessments, and company procedures
  • Unwire existing AHU system internal components and wiring between new components and isolators
  • Keep working area safe and tidy, good site etiquette and housekeeping on site
  • Liaise professionally with clients, contractors, and internal teams
  • Travel to sites across the UK (occasional overnight stays and weekend work required)

What We’re Looking For

  • 1–2 years’ relevant experience in a mechanical, electrical, or engineering environment
  • Experience working on‑site in a practical role
  • Good understanding of electrical systems and safe working practices
  • Ability to fault‑find and troubleshoot independently
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics
  • Strong communication skills, with confidence speaking to clients on site
  • Ability to work collaboratively with both site and office teams
  • Practical, hands‑on mindset with a common‑sense approach
  • Self‑motivated, organised, and reliable
  • Good understanding of maths, physics and English
  • High School Diploma, GED, or trade school diploma with 1‑2 years of job‑related experience. In lieu of a diploma, a combination of experience and education will be considered.
  • Computer literate (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Meet the physical requirements of this role including stooping, standing, walking, climbing stairs/ladders, and the ability to lift/carry heavy loads of 50 lbs. or more.
  • Full UK driving licence (essential)

Desirable but not required

  • Engineering qualification or apprenticeship background
  • CSCS Card
