About the Role
We have an exciting opportunity for a Youth Development Worker to join a dedicated Support team within a supported accommodation service for young people aged 16–25. This role focuses on empowering young people experiencing homelessness to build confidence, develop essential life skills, and move towards independent living. You’ll play a key part in supporting individuals to achieve their goals and create positive futures.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide one-to-one key worker support to young people aged 16–25
- Develop and review personalised support and action plans
- Complete and maintain risk assessments and risk management plans
- Support tenancy and housing-related needs
- Assist with benefit applications (Universal Credit, PIP, Housing Benefit)
- Help young people manage finances, including budgeting and bill payments
- Support access to education, training, and employment opportunities
- Work collaboratively with external agencies (e.g. mental health services, domestic abuse support, landlords)
- Prepare young people for independent living and successful move-on
- Deliver person-centred support using flexible and creative approaches
About You
We’re looking for someone who is passionate about supporting young people and helping them achieve positive outcomes. You will have:
- The ability to build rapport with a wide range of young people
- A proactive and resilient approach to achieving the best outcomes
- Knowledge of safeguarding, support planning, and risk management
- An understanding of young people’s emotional and mental health needs
