Digital Building Design Consultant

Key Responsibilities
- Work closely with clients to capture smart building goals and define project requirements.
- Prepare technical design briefs, specifications, and tender documentation.
- Manage RFP processes, including supplier selection and bid reviews.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (IT, MEP, AV, Facilities) during design and delivery.
- Oversee vendor performance, integration activities, and on-site deployments.
- Support commissioning, testing, and validation of smart systems.
- Carry out risk assessments, technical reviews, and issue resolution.
- Ensure compliance with CDM regulations and applicable industry standards.
- Deliver project close-out materials, including O&M documentation, training packs, and as-builts.
- Actively promote the value of smart building solutions to clients and the wider market.
- Keep up to date with emerging technologies, frameworks, and industry developments.
- Apply cybersecurity and information security principles in project delivery.
- Take ownership of project outcomes, ensuring delivery within agreed scope, budget, and timelines.

Essential Skills & Experience
- 3–8 years’ experience in smart buildings, building automation, or BMS/BEMS.
- Strong understanding of building systems, integration, and communication protocols (e.g., BACnet, Modbus, MQTT).
- Knowledge of construction and commissioning workflows.
- Excellent documentation, specification, and reporting skills.
- Experience managing suppliers and working in live project settings.
- Competent with Microsoft Office and collaborative platforms (e.g., Teams, SharePoint).
- Confident communicator with strong stakeholder management ability.
Desirable Background
- Familiarity with smart building ontologies and frameworks (e.g., Brick, Project Haystack, Digital Building Ontology).
- Experience implementing digital twins, data platforms, or middleware (e.g., Tridium Niagara, FIN Framework).
