The Role
As Quantity Surveyor, you will play a key role in the commercial delivery of civil engineering and infrastructure projects across the Teesside region. Working closely with project teams, clients, subcontractors, and suppliers, you will be responsible for ensuring robust commercial management throughout the project lifecycle.
Responsibilities
- Managing the commercial and contractual aspects of infrastructure and civil engineering projects.
- Preparing and submitting valuations, applications for payment, and final accounts.
- Procuring and administering subcontractor packages.
- Managing subcontractor accounts and payment applications.
- Identifying, pricing, and negotiating variations and compensation events.
- Producing accurate cost forecasts, budgets, and financial reports.
- Preparing monthly cost value reconciliations and commercial reports.
- Assisting with contract administration and compliance.
- Monitoring project performance and identifying opportunities to maximise profitability.
- Managing commercial risks and implementing mitigation strategies.
- Building and maintaining effective relationships with clients and project stakeholders.
Ideal Candidate
- Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within civil engineering, infrastructure, utilities, highways, energy, or water sectors.
- Strong understanding of NEC contracts and commercial procedures.
- Experience managing subcontractor procurement and commercial accounts.
- Excellent financial and commercial awareness.
- Strong negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities within a fast‑paced project environment.
- Excellent analytical and problem‑solving capabilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and commercial management software.
- Degree qualified or equivalent in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline.
- Full UK driving licence.
