This role is ideally suited to a commercially astute procurement professional with strong subcontract buying experience who is looking to take ownership of procurement activities within a structured and forward-thinking environment. You will play a key role in the delivery of major programmes, working both remotely and on-site 2-3 days per week, collaborating closely with project and delivery teams to ensure successful procurement outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Managing the end-to-end subcontract procurement process across multiple projects
  • Leading the sourcing and procurement of subcontract packages in line with project requirements
  • Preparing and issuing RFQs/ITTs and managing tender processes
  • Evaluating subcontractor returns, ensuring best value, compliance, and risk mitigation
  • Negotiating terms, pricing, and contract conditions with subcontractors
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with subcontractors and internal stakeholders
  • Supporting project teams with procurement strategies and commercial input
  • Ensuring all procurement activities align with internal governance and regulatory requirements
  • Monitoring subcontractor performance and supporting post-award commercial activities

What We’re Looking For

  • Proven experience in subcontract procurement/buying (essential)
  • Background within construction, infrastructure, utilities, or engineering sectors
  • Strong understanding of procurement processes, tendering, and contract negotiation
  • Ability to work collaboratively both on-site and remotely in a hybrid environment
  • Experience managing multiple subcontract packages in a project environment
  • Excellent commercial awareness and attention to detail
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel

Desirable:

  • Experience within regulated or public sector environments
  • Familiarity with NEC or similar contract forms
  • Relevant professional qualifications (e.g., CIPS)
