Due to continued growth and a strong pipeline of secured projects, they are now looking to appoint a Junior / Assistant Estimator to strengthen their pre-construction team.

The Role

We are seeking an ambitious Junior / Assistant Estimator to join the commercial and pre-construction team. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with 1-3 years' estimating or construction experience who is looking to develop their career within a supportive and growing business. The successful candidate will work closely with senior estimators and commercial professionals, assisting with the preparation of competitive tenders while gaining exposure to a wide variety of construction and building services projects. Full training and ongoing support will be provided to help develop technical and commercial knowledge.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in preparing accurate and competitive estimates and tender submissions
  • Review drawings, specifications, and tender documentation
  • Produce quantity take-offs and pricing schedules
  • Obtain quotations from suppliers and subcontractors
  • Support the preparation of subcontractor enquiry packages
  • Assist with cost analysis and tender comparisons
  • Help identify commercial risks and value engineering opportunities
  • Attend site visits and pre-tender meetings where required
  • Work closely with commercial, operational, and project teams throughout the tender process
  • Maintain accurate estimating records and documentation
  • Support bid submissions and presentation preparation
  • Develop an understanding of construction methods, materials, and market rates

Requirements

  • 1-3 years' experience within an Estimating, Assistant Estimator, Commercial, or Construction-related role
  • Strong interest in developing a career within estimating and pre-construction
  • Good numerical and analytical skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational abilities
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively within a team environment
  • Good IT skills including Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Positive attitude with a willingness to learn and develop
  • Ability to manage workload within a fast-paced environment

Desirable:

  • Experience within construction, M&E, building services, fit-out, or contracting sectors
  • Relevant construction, engineering, or commercial qualification
  • Experience producing take-offs or assisting with tender submissions
  • Knowledge of estimating software packages
