We are supporting a growing, family-run construction business operating across domestic and commercial projects ranging from £10k to £1m+. With an ambitious pipeline of tenders planned for 2026, they are seeking an experienced and commercially-minded Senior Quantity Surveyor / Commercial Manager to join the team and play a key role in supporting the business's growth.
The Role
As Senior QS / Commercial Manager, you will be responsible for the commercial management of projects from inception to completion, working closely with clients, subcontractors, and the internal team. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Preparing clear and accurate pricing documents and cost plans
- Managing budgets, cashflow, valuations, and variations
- Handling contracts and subcontractor agreements (primarily JCT)
- Supporting tender submissions and bid preparation (2026 onwards)
- Conducting site visits and liaising with clients, suppliers, and project teams
- Identifying opportunities to improve commercial processes and contribute to company growth
The Candidate
You will be a confident, commercially-focused professional with experience across domestic and commercial construction projects. The ideal candidate will demonstrate:
- Proven experience with JCT contracts, cost control, and project commercial management
- Strong analytical skills, accuracy, and attention to detail
- Experience in bid writing, tendering, and estimating
- Proficiency in Excel and commercial/estimating software
- Relevant qualifications such as a QS degree and/or RICS accreditation (desirable)
- Full UK driving licence
