With a proven track record delivering bespoke new-build and refurbishment projects up to £6 million in value, this contractor is known for its hands-on leadership, commitment to quality, and long-standing client relationships. The company operates within a 50-mile radius, offering stability, variety, and the opportunity to work on meaningful regional projects with real impact.

Our client is seeking an experienced Project Quantity Surveyor with a background in Design & Build (D&B) projects to join their dynamic team. You will play a pivotal role in overseeing the financial management of residential and commercial schemes ranging from £700k to £6m, ensuring cost control, value engineering, and efficient contract administration from pre-construction through to final account.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Managing all cost-related aspects of construction projects from inception to completion
  • Preparing accurate cost plans, budgets, and tender documents for D&B projects
  • Performing risk, value management, and cost control
  • Monitoring project progress, forecasting costs, and managing variations
  • Preparing interim valuations, final accounts, and subcontractor payments
  • Attending regular project and site meetings to provide commercial support
  • Working closely with the site team and design consultants to ensure best value
  • Ensuring compliance with contractual obligations and company procedures
  • Supporting procurement of subcontractors and materials
  • Reporting directly to the Commercial Manager/Director

What you will need to succeed:

  • Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor on D&B projects (main contractor side)
  • Minimum of 4+ years' experience in a similar role within the UK construction industry
  • Strong understanding of JCT contracts and cost control systems
  • HNC/HND or degree in Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and standard QS software packages
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and organisational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to regional sites
