We are working with an established and growing business within the renewable energy and decarbonisation sector, who are looking to appoint an experienced Projects Delivery Manager to strengthen their senior project delivery team. This is a fantastic opportunity for a commercially minded project professional who enjoys taking ownership of projects, managing client relationships and leading teams to deliver technically complex projects successfully.

The Opportunity

As Projects Delivery Manager, you will have overall responsibility for the successful delivery of a portfolio of projects, from initial mobilisation through to completion and handover. You'll work closely with the Operations and Commercial teams, clients, consultants, contractors and suppliers to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, on time and to budget. The role has a strong commercial element, so we're looking for someone who understands that successful project delivery isn't just about hitting programme dates - it's also about protecting margins, managing contracts effectively and building relationships that lead to repeat business. You'll also have the opportunity to help shape the company's growing Projects function, developing internal capability and building a reliable network of specialist subcontractors and delivery partners.

What you'll be doing

  • Taking ownership of multiple projects across renewable energy, electrical infrastructure and building services.
  • Managing projects from initial enquiry and planning through to installation, commissioning and final handover.
  • Setting and monitoring project programmes, budgets and key milestones.
  • Managing procurement, subcontractors, suppliers and specialist contractors.
  • Monitoring project costs, cash flow, valuations, variations and overall profitability.
  • Managing contractual matters, including JCT contracts, variations, extensions of time and payment applications.
  • Working closely with clients to understand their requirements and ensure projects meet expectations.
  • Leading project meetings and providing clear progress updates to clients and senior management.
  • Identifying and managing project risks, ensuring appropriate mitigation is put in place.
  • Maintaining high standards of health & safety, quality and compliance.
  • Supporting tendering, estimating and pricing activities where required.
  • Identifying opportunities to develop existing client relationships and generate further work.
  • Mentoring and supporting Project Engineers, Site Engineers and other members of the delivery team.
  • Developing relationships with trusted subcontractors, manufacturers and delivery partners.
  • Contributing to the ongoing improvement and growth of the Projects Division.

The Projects

The business delivers a varied range of energy and building services solutions, so the successful candidate may be involved in projects including:

  • Commercial Solar PV
  • Battery Energy Storage Systems
  • EV Charging
  • Electrical infrastructure and upgrades
  • Energy efficiency schemes
  • Building Management Systems
  • Mechanical & Electrical services
  • Metering
  • Building fabric improvements
  • Net Zero and decarbonisation projects

What we're looking for

We're interested in speaking with experienced Project Managers, Senior Project Managers, Contracts Managers or Projects Delivery Managers who have a background in construction, electrical, energy, M&E, renewable energy or a closely related environment. You'll need to be comfortable managing projects commercially as well as operationally, with experience of:

  • Managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Controlling budgets, programmes and project performance.
  • Managing subcontractors and supply chains.
  • Working with construction contracts, ideally including JCT.
  • Managing client relationships and senior stakeholders.
  • Leading project teams and coordinating multiple disciplines.
  • Identifying and resolving commercial, technical and delivery issues.
  • Working within robust health & safety and quality requirements.

Most importantly, you'll be someone who takes ownership, communicates well and enjoys finding practical solutions. You'll be commercially aware, organised and confident dealing with clients, contractors and internal stakeholders at all levels.

Why consider the role?

This is an opportunity to join a business operating in a fast-moving and increasingly important part of the energy sector, with the chance to have a genuine influence on both project delivery and the future development of the Projects function. You'll have the autonomy to make decisions, develop relationships and help build the processes, people and supply chain needed to support continued growth. If you're looking for a senior project role where you can combine commercial responsibility, leadership and renewable energy project delivery, we'd love to hear from you.
