We are currently recruiting for an experienced HGV Class 2 Driver to join the Facilities Team of a well-established construction business based at its Head Office in Preston, supporting projects across the North West. This is a temporary position with an immediate start available, offering consistent work for the duration of the contract.

The role is based on a 39-hour working week, typically starting at 7:00am, with occasional 6:00am starts when travelling to city-centre locations or to meet project requirements.

The Role:

  • You will be responsible for the safe transportation of plant, equipment, materials, and site accommodation across multiple project locations throughout the North West, while also supporting yard operations and facilities activities when required.

Duties will include:

  • Delivery, collection, and setup of site accommodation (cabins) to create project administration facilities
  • Relocation of site accommodation as required by project programmes
  • Delivery and collection of plant, machinery, and equipment to and from site locations
  • Transporting scaffold, site fencing, materials, and construction components
  • Carrying out miscellaneous lifting operations
  • Assisting with loading, unloading, housekeeping, and general yard duties
  • Supporting the maintenance, preparation, cleaning, painting, and refurbishment of construction site cabins
  • Ensuring all transport activities are completed safely and in line with company procedures and legislation

Requirements:

Essential:

  • Valid HGV Class 2 (Category C) Licence
  • Valid Driver CPC Card
  • Valid Digital Tachograph Card
  • Proven experience as an HGV Driver or in a similar role
  • Excellent driving skills and a clean driving record
  • Physical capability to safely load and unload heavy items
  • Good understanding of current road haulage legislation and HGV operations
  • Thorough knowledge of the North West road network
  • Strong understanding of health and safety legislation and best practice within haulage and construction environments
  • Effective problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work to deadlines and manage changing priorities
  • Good written and verbal communication skills

Desirable:

  • Lorry Loader (HIAB) Licence
  • All Terrain Forklift Licence
  • Telehandler Licence
  • Previous experience working within construction or facilities environments
