Working across private sale, affordable housing, and build-to-rent developments, they continue to expand their presence throughout Greater Manchester and the surrounding regions. Due to continued growth and a strong pipeline of secured projects, they are now looking to appoint a Graduate Quantity Surveyor to support the commercial team on low-rise apartment developments valued up to £30 million.
The Role
We are seeking an ambitious Graduate Quantity Surveyor to join the commercial team supporting the delivery of low-rise apartment developments across Manchester. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual looking to develop their career within a growing residential developer. The successful candidate will work closely with Senior Quantity Surveyors and Commercial Managers, gaining exposure across all commercial aspects of residential construction projects from procurement through to final account.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the commercial management of residential apartment developments
- Support the preparation of subcontractor packages, procurement schedules, and tender documentation
- Assist with subcontractor enquiries, analysis, and appointment processes
- Prepare and process subcontractor payments and variations
- Support cost reporting, forecasting, and budget monitoring
- Assist in the preparation of valuations and final accounts
- Monitor project costs and identify any potential commercial risks or opportunities
- Work closely with site and operational teams to ensure commercial objectives are achieved
- Maintain accurate commercial records and documentation
- Assist with measurement and take-offs from drawings and specifications
- Support the commercial team with reporting and administrative duties as required
Requirements
- Degree qualified or working towards a degree in Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management
- Strong interest in residential construction and housebuilding
- Excellent numerical and analytical skills
- Strong communication and organisational abilities
- Eagerness to learn and develop within a commercial environment
- Good IT skills including Excel and Microsoft Office
- Ability to work well within a team environment
Desirable:
- Placement year or previous construction industry experience
- Experience working with a contractor or residential developer
- Knowledge of JCT contracts and construction processes
