Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Estimator with a strong background in housing groundworks to join their commercial and pre-construction team based in Huyton. You will play a key role in securing new projects by preparing accurate and competitive tenders for residential groundworks and infrastructure packages.
Responsibilities will include:
- Preparing detailed estimates and tender submissions for housing groundworks projects
- Pricing roads, sewers, drainage, foundations, external works, and infrastructure packages
- Reviewing drawings, specifications, and technical documentation
- Producing accurate take-offs for labour, plant, materials, and subcontract works
- Obtaining and analysing supplier and subcontractor quotations
- Identifying commercial risks and value engineering opportunities
- Liaising with clients, engineers, and operational teams throughout the tender process
- Managing multiple tenders and meeting strict submission deadlines
- Maintaining estimating records, cost databases, and supplier information
- Assisting with handovers to commercial and delivery teams following project awards
What you will need to succeed:
- Proven experience as an Estimator or Senior Estimator within housing groundworks or civil engineering
- Strong knowledge of residential infrastructure packages including roads, sewers, and drainage
- Excellent commercial awareness and attention to detail
- Strong numerical, analytical, and negotiation skills
- Ability to manage multiple tenders simultaneously
- Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Excel
- Experience working with national or regional housebuilders preferred
- Full UK driving licence
- HNC/HND or degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction, or Civil Engineering desirable
