Due to continued success and a strong pipeline of secured projects, they are now looking to appoint an experienced Buyer to support their commercial and operational teams.

The Role

We are seeking an experienced Buyer to join the business on a part-time basis, working two days per week. This is an excellent opportunity for a procurement professional with new build housing experience to play a key role in supporting the successful delivery of residential developments. The successful candidate will be responsible for the procurement of materials, plant, and subcontract packages, ensuring best value is achieved while maintaining quality, programme requirements, and supplier relationships.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the procurement of materials and subcontract packages for new build housing developments
  • Source and negotiate with suppliers to achieve best value and commercial advantage
  • Prepare and issue enquiries to suppliers and subcontractors
  • Obtain and analyse quotations and pricing proposals
  • Place purchase orders and monitor supplier performance
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and subcontractors
  • Ensure materials are procured in line with project programmes and site requirements
  • Monitor market trends, pricing movements, and supply chain risks
  • Work closely with commercial, technical, and operational teams
  • Maintain accurate procurement records and documentation
  • Support cost-saving initiatives and value engineering opportunities

Requirements

  • Previous experience within a Buyer or Procurement role within the construction industry
  • New build housing experience is essential
  • Strong understanding of construction materials and supply chains
  • Proven experience negotiating with suppliers and subcontractors
  • Excellent commercial awareness and organisational skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Good IT skills including Microsoft Excel and procurement systems
  • Ability to work collaboratively with internal teams and external stakeholders

Desirable:

  • Experience working for a housebuilder or residential developer
  • Knowledge of procurement processes within residential construction
  • Experience sourcing materials for bespoke or luxury housing developments
  • Understanding of subcontract procurement and package buying
