We are currently recruiting on behalf of our client for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to support the delivery of major power and energy infrastructure projects across North Wales. This is a key commercial role within a high-profile programme of works, offering the opportunity to take ownership of complex, high-value infrastructure packages within a critical UK energy sector.

The Opportunity

As Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will play a leading role in the commercial management of energy transmission, substation, and associated infrastructure projects, operating under NEC contracts (primarily NEC Option C). You will be responsible for driving strong commercial performance across your projects, ensuring robust cost control, effective change management, and full contractual compliance throughout the project lifecycle. This is a hybrid role with 2 days per week on site in North Wales, with flexibility for the remainder of the week.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the commercial management of power and energy infrastructure projects
  • Administer and manage contracts under NEC (Option C preferred)
  • Manage the full lifecycle of Compensation Events, from notification through to agreement
  • Maintain accurate control and reporting of Defined Cost and target cost performance
  • Produce detailed cost forecasts, budgets, and financial reports
  • Oversee subcontractor procurement, valuation, and account management
  • Support and implement effective change control and risk management processes
  • Provide clear, confident commercial advice to project teams and senior stakeholders
  • Ensure full compliance with NEC procedures and client commercial governance
  • Support negotiation and resolution of commercial issues as they arise

About You

  • Proven experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor within the power, energy, or utilities sector
  • Strong working knowledge of NEC contracts (essential)
  • Experience with NEC Option C target cost contracts highly desirable
  • Strong understanding of Defined Cost and compensation event mechanisms
  • Demonstrable experience managing cost, change, and contract administration on complex projects
  • Excellent commercial awareness and analytical skills
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management ability
  • Confident working within fast-paced infrastructure delivery environments
