An established and highly regarded bespoke joinery business based in Chester is looking to appoint an experienced Site Manager to join their team. The company specialises in high-quality timber joinery, bespoke doors and windows, fire doors, staircases, screens and specialist joinery, delivering projects across commercial, heritage and private sectors.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Joiner who has progressed into a Supervisory or Site Management position, with strong knowledge of both joinery and fire door installation.
The Role
As Site Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing joinery and fire door installation projects from delivery through to completion, ensuring work is completed safely, to a high standard and in line with programme requirements. You will work closely with the workshop, project management team, clients, contractors and site operatives to ensure projects are delivered efficiently and to the required specification.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing and supervising joinery and fire door installation works on site.
- Coordinating site teams, subcontractors and other trades.
- Ensuring all works are completed to a high standard and in accordance with drawings and specifications.
- Overseeing the installation of bespoke timber doors, windows, fire doors, screens and other specialist joinery.
- Ensuring fire doors and associated works are installed correctly and in accordance with relevant specifications.
- Coordinating deliveries and materials to ensure projects remain on programme.
- Liaising with clients, main contractors and other site personnel.
- Monitoring progress and reporting back to the management team.
- Maintaining high standards of health & safety and site housekeeping.
- Carrying out quality checks and ensuring any defects or issues are addressed promptly.
- Reading and interpreting drawings, specifications and installation details.
- Resolving day-to-day site issues and coordinating solutions with the wider team.
- Providing a hands-on approach where required and supporting the joinery team on site.
Essential Experience
- Previous experience as a Site Manager, Site Supervisor, Contracts Supervisor or similar.
- Strong background in carpentry and joinery.
- Fire door experience is essential, ideally including installation and knowledge of fire-rated doorsets.
- Experience working with bespoke timber joinery and/or commercial joinery projects.
- Ability to read drawings and understand joinery specifications.
- Strong understanding of site health & safety and quality requirements.
- Good communication and organisational skills.
- Full UK driving licence.
Desirable
- SMSTS or SSSTS.
- CSCS qualification.
- Relevant carpentry/joinery qualification.
- Fire door installation or relevant fire door training/certification.
- Experience working on heritage, conservation or high-specification joinery projects.
Package
- Salary circa Β£40,000 - negotiable depending on experience.
