Our client is looking to appoint an Estimator to support the pricing and tendering of painting and decorating projects across a range of sectors. This role is ideal for someone with hands-on trade knowledge or estimating experience who is looking to develop within a growing commercial team.

Working closely with the Estimating Manager and Senior Estimators, you will assist in producing accurate cost estimates, supporting bid submissions, and ensuring tender information is well prepared and communicated to the wider business.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare estimates based on drawings, schedules of works, and bills of quantities.
  • Carry out measurements and take-offs for labour, materials, and plant.
  • Assist in the preparation and submission of tenders within agreed deadlines.
  • Maintain accurate tender records and update quotation logs.
  • Support senior team members in managing allocated tenders from enquiry through to submission.
  • Help track tender outcomes and follow up where required.
  • Liaise with clients and main contractors to obtain drawings, specifications, and clarification on scope.
  • Maintain clear communication throughout the tender process.
  • Attend site visits during the tender stage to gain a full understanding of project requirements and constraints.
  • Work with commercial, contracts, and operations teams to ensure pricing reflects project requirements.
  • Assist with the preparation of information for successful tenders to support handover to the delivery team.
  • Ensure all estimating documentation is accurate and filed correctly.
  • Provide updates to the Estimating Manager on tender progress and workload.
  • Develop estimating skills and industry knowledge through on-the-job learning and mentoring.
  • Contribute positively to team meetings and support the company's growth objectives.
Skills & Experience
  • Experience within painting and decorating is preferred. Applicants from other construction backgrounds will be considered.
  • Estimating experience is essential.
  • Strong attention to detail with good numerical skills.
  • Clear verbal and written communication skills.
  • Comfortable using estimating software and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Confident telephone manner and willingness to learn.
  • Able to work collaboratively while managing own workload.
