Quantity Surveyor - Main Contracting / D&B Location - Blackpool Salary/Package - Competitive salary + Excellent Benefits Package About the Company Our client is a growing construction business with an expanding portfolio of projects across the North West. The business specialises in delivering high-quality refurbishment and new-build developments, with a particular focus on assisted living, residential and commercial hospitality schemes. Due to continued growth within this area of the business, they are looking to appoint an experienced Quantity Surveyor who can take ownership of projects and play an important role in the continued development of the business. The Role As Quantity Surveyor, you will take commercial responsibility for your own projects, working closely with the Operations and senior management teams to ensure projects are delivered successfully and profitably. The role would suit a commercially minded QS with strong main contracting experience, particularly someone who has worked on new-build projects under Design & Build contracts. You will have the autonomy to manage your own diary and workload, typically overseeing two to three projects at different stages at any one time. Key Responsibilities Taking commercial responsibility for multiple construction projects from pre-construction through to completion Managing projects under Design & Build contracts Managing budgets, costs, forecasts and commercial performance Preparing and reviewing valuations, applications, payments and final accounts Managing subcontractor procurement and subcontract accounts Reviewing and agreeing variations, additional works and commercial changes Monitoring project costs and identifying commercial risks and opportunities Working closely with the Operations team to ensure projects are delivered commercially and effectively Supporting the estimating and pricing process for projects within the client base Reviewing tenders, specifications, drawings and project information Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients and key stakeholders Attending client meetings and acting as a confident commercial representative of the business Supporting the development of new and existing client relationships Managing your own workload, diary and project priorities effectively Ensuring projects are commercially controlled from inception through to final account Contributing to the continued growth and development of this area of the business The Ideal Candidate The successful Quantity Surveyor will have: Strong main contracting experience Proven experience working on new-build projects Experience working under Design & Build contracts A strong understanding of construction commercial management Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously Ability to independently manage your own diary and workload Strong subcontract procurement and account management experience Good knowledge of valuations, variations, forecasting and final accounts Strong commercial awareness and attention to detail Excellent client-facing and communication skills Confidence building and maintaining long-term client relationships Experience within assisted living, residential, commercial or hospitality projects would be advantageous Experience across refurbishment and new-build projects A proactive approach and the ability to work closely with operational teams Relevant Quantity Surveying or construction qualification would be advantageous Ideally locally based to allow regular office attendance when required Projects The successful candidate will work across a varied portfolio including: Refurbishment of existing buildings to create assisted living apartments New-build assisted living developments New-build commercial developments Hospitality sector projects What's on Offer Competitive salary and package Opportunity to join a growing and developing area of the business Genuine opportunity to make an impact Autonomy and responsibility over your own projects Exposure to a varied range of new-build and refurbishment schemes Opportunity to work closely with senior management and the Operations team Strong client-facing opportunity Long-term career progression within a growing construction business Apply: If you're interested in this opportunity, then please get in touch today with our Commercial Specialist, Mark Harris.
