Your new role
Our client is seeking an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join their team in Bolton, supporting the delivery of housing refurbishment projects. This role is an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual to gain hands-on experience across a wide range of commercial duties, working closely with senior surveyors and project managers to develop their knowledge and skillset.

Responsibilities will include:

Assisting in the preparation and management of project budgets, cost plans, and financial reports.

Supporting with the tendering, procurement, and appointment of subcontractors and suppliers.

Assisting in the preparation of valuations, payment applications, and final accounts.

Monitoring costs on site and ensuring accurate record-keeping.

Supporting senior surveyors with contract administration and compliance.

Attending site meetings and liaising with project teams to ensure cost efficiency and progress.

Gaining exposure to variations, change control, and risk management processes.

Developing technical knowledge of construction contracts, such as JCT and NEC.

What you will need to succeed:

A degree (or working towards) in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or a related discipline.

Some experience in construction, ideally within housing, refurbishment, or planned maintenance, is desirable but not essential.

Strong numerical and analytical skills.

Excellent communication and organisational abilities.

A keen willingness to learn and progress within the commercial field.

Ability to work as part of a team as well as independently when required.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
