The Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Buyer to support the procurement function across multiple residential new build developments. Working closely with the Buying and Commercial teams, you will play a key role in ensuring materials and services are procured efficiently, cost-effectively, and in line with project programmes.

As Assistant Buyer, you will be responsible for:

  • Assisting with the procurement of materials and subcontract packages for residential projects
  • Raising and processing purchase orders in line with budgets and build programmes
  • Liaising with suppliers to ensure timely deliveries and resolve any supply issues
  • Supporting price negotiations and maintaining supplier relationships
  • Monitoring material costs and assisting with cost control and reporting
  • Ensuring procurement processes comply with company procedures

The Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate will be organised, commercially aware, and keen to develop a career within buying and procurement. You will be comfortable working in a fast-paced construction environment and enjoy collaborating with multiple departments.

The successful Assistant Buyer will have:

  • Previous experience in an Assistant Buyer or procurement role within construction or housebuilding
  • Strong administrative and organisational skills
  • Good commercial awareness and attention to detail
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
  • Excellent communication skills and a proactive approach
