The project comprises a large contemporary extension to a luxury country house, together with the construction of two substantial steel-frame buildings within the estate. This is a technically demanding scheme involving complex groundworks, piling operations, structural steel installation and premium-quality finishes, making it an excellent opportunity for an experienced site manager who thrives on challenging one-off projects.
The Role
Reporting to the Contracts Manager, you will take full responsibility for managing the project from site set-up through to completion, ensuring works are delivered safely, on programme and to the exceptional quality standards expected on a bespoke development. You will coordinate multiple work packages, manage specialist subcontractors and work closely with the client, architects and consultants throughout the construction process.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the day-to-day delivery of the project.
- Manage all site operations from mobilisation through to handover.
- Oversee piling, groundworks and structural steel installation, ensuring works are sequenced effectively.
- Coordinate specialist subcontractors and manage programme performance across multiple work areas.
- Ensure health, safety, quality and environmental standards are maintained at all times.
- Work closely with architects, consultants and the private client to ensure the project is delivered to the highest standard.
- Chair site meetings and provide regular progress updates to the Contracts Manager.
- Drive quality inspections, snagging and a successful project handover.
What We’re Looking For
- Proven experience as a Senior Site Manager delivering complex construction projects for a main contractor.
- Essential experience managing projects involving piling operations and steel-frame construction.
- Strong understanding of structural sequencing, temporary works and site logistics.
- Experience coordinating multiple specialist subcontractors on technically challenging schemes.
- Excellent leadership, communication and programme management skills.
- SMSTS, CSCS and First Aid qualifications are essential.
