Job Description Quantity Surveyor - CAT A & B Fit Out\n \n Location: Deeside Salary: Competitive + Excellent Benefits Package Job Type: Permanent \n \nAbout the Company\n \n An established North West Design & Build contractor specialising in commercial and industrial projects, retail and leisure, public sector works, refurbishment and specialist fit-out is looking to appoint an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join its commercial team on a major project in Deeside. \n The business combines design, manufacture and construction, with specialist in-house capabilities including bespoke joinery and fit-out. Its current project at Shotton Mill is a major architectural package incorporating drylining, ceilings, screeds, floor finishes, fire-rated panelling and more than 400 doorsets. \n \nThe Role\n \n As Quantity Surveyor , you will take responsibility for the commercial management of a major live construction project, working closely with the Project Manager, site team, subcontractors, suppliers and wider commercial function. \n This is a full-time, site-based position at Shotton Mill, Deeside , offering the opportunity to work on a major CAT A & B / architectural fit-out project. \n \nKey Responsibilities\n \n \n \n Take responsibility for the commercial management of the project from procurement through to final account. \n \n Manage project costs, budgets and financial performance. \n \n Prepare and maintain accurate Cost Value Reconciliations (CVRs). \n \n Monitor project expenditure against budgets and forecasts. \n \n Prepare monthly cost and commercial reports. \n \n Prepare interim valuations and payment applications. \n \n Review and assess subcontractor and supplier applications. \n \n Manage variations, change control and commercial instructions. \n \n Identify and manage commercial risks and opportunities. \n \n Assist with contractual correspondence and contract administration. \n \n Monitor project progress and its impact on commercial performance. \n \n Work closely with the Project Manager and site team to ensure commercial and operational objectives are aligned. \n \n Liaise with clients, consultants, subcontractors and suppliers. \n \n Assist with dispute resolution and commercial issues where required. \n \n Manage the commercial close-out and final accounts. \n \n Maintain accurate commercial records and ensure company procedures are followed. \n \n Support and mentor more junior members of the commercial team where required. \n \n \nThe Ideal Candidate\n \n The successful candidate will ideally have: \n \n \n Proven experience working as a Quantity Surveyor within construction, fit-out, refurbishment or interiors . \n \n Ideally 2+ years' experience operating at QS level. \n \n Experience managing the commercial side of live construction projects. \n \n Strong knowledge of procurement, subcontract management, valuations, variations, CVRs and final accounts. \n \n Good understanding of construction contracts and commercial processes. \n \n Experience working from drawings, specifications and construction documentation. \n \n Strong communication, negotiation and relationship-building skills. \n \n Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and commercial software. \n \n A relevant Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Civil Engineering or equivalent qualification. \n \n The ability to work full time on site at Shotton Mill. \n \n This is an excellent opportunity to join an established North West Design & Build business and gain exposure to a major, multi-million-pound architectural and fit-out project . \n The Shotton Mill project incorporates multiple specialist packages across six buildings, providing the successful QS with substantial commercial exposure across drylining, ceilings, flooring, fire-rated systems, joinery and doorsets. \n The business also has a broad project portfolio across commercial, industrial, retail, leisure, public sector and specialist/bespoke work, alongside in-house design and manufacturing capabilities. \n Apply: If you're interested in this opportunity, then please get in touch today with our Commercial Specialist, Mark Harris. \n Building Careers UK specialises in Construction and Property recruitment and serves as an employment agency for permanent recruitment and an employment business for the supply of temporary workers.
